Long before independence was won, the roads, rivers, farms, forests, and small communities of North Carolina became part of a struggle that would help determine the future of a new nation.

Battles That Shaped a Nation follows North Carolina through some of the defining moments of the Revolutionary War—from the Patriot victory at Moores Creek Bridge in 1776 to the fierce fighting that swept across the state during the Southern Campaign of 1780 and 1781.

Along the way came Ramseur’s Mill, Charlotte, Shallow Ford, Cowan’s Ford, Pyle’s Defeat, Wetzell’s Mill, Guilford Courthouse, Cox’s Mill, the House in the Horseshoe, and Lindley’s Mill. Some were major battles. Others were smaller clashes whose names are less familiar today. Together, they remind us that the Revolution was fought not only on famous battlefields, but in communities and countryside across North Carolina.

And woven into that story are the Overmountain Men, who gathered in September 1780 and crossed the rugged mountains on their march toward Kings Mountain. Men from the Carolina backcountry joined that campaign, helping secure a pivotal Patriot victory on October 7.

The design also carries two dates from North Carolina's historic flag: May 20, 1775, traditionally associated with the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, and April 12, 1776, the date of the Halifax Resolves—when North Carolina became the first colony to officially authorize its delegates to support independence.

Framed by Blue Ridge mountains, evergreens, dogwood blossoms, weathered rails, and the North Carolina flag, this tote celebrates both the places where history happened and the people whose lives were caught up in it.

Courage. Resilience. Sacrifice. A lasting legacy.

Two hundred and fifty years later, the story is still ours.

Production & Delivery Estimates

Made Especially for You!

Every print-on-demand product at The Heathered Ridge is created especially for you after you place your order. Producing items on demand helps reduce overproduction and make more thoughtful use of resources.

Production typically takes approximately 2–5 business days, followed by shipping transit time.

Based on recent orders, standard U.S. delivery averages approximately 9 calendar days from the date you place your order until it arrives at your door. Some orders arrive in as few as 4–5 days, while others may take two weeks or longer.

Production and delivery times may vary depending on the product, destination, carrier conditions, and seasonal demand. Delivery dates are estimates and cannot be guaranteed.

Because products may be made at different fulfillment locations, items purchased together may arrive in separate packages at different times. Separate shipments do not automatically mean additional shipping charges.
